Our Story
We are Olga and Stefanos, and we strive to offer our guests a warm and truly special hospitality experience. Our mission is to make your Mykonos vacation unforgettable and inspire you to fall in love with our beautiful island.
The house listed on Airbnb today was once Olga’s family summer home, where her family of four spent unforgettable summers during the 1960s and 1970s.
In 2018, the property underwent a complete renovation, marking the beginning of a new chapter. Since then, Vento Aureo Mykonos has welcomed hundreds of guests from around the world.
Mykonos in the time of ancient gods
In Greek mythology, Mykonos is famously known as the battleground where Hercules defeated the invincible Giants and as the island named after Mykons, a local hero and descendant of the god Apollo. Mykonos’ mythological history is deeply intertwined with its neighboring island, Delos. In myth, Delos emerged suddenly from the waves to provide the Titaness Leto with a safe haven to give birth to the divine twins, Apollo and Artemis. Mykonos is universally nicknamed “The Island of the Winds” due to the strong, seasonal Mediterranean winds (the Meltemi) that sweep across the Cyclades. Because the island is constantly buffeted by these gales, locals and travelers have historically associated Mykonos with Aiolos, who holds the power to lock away or unleash violent storm-winds.
The meaning of Vento Aureo
Vento Aureo, meaning “Golden Wind” in Italian, evokes the essence of Mykonos: the island’s famous Aegean breeze, golden sunlight, and effortless elegance. Inspired by the refreshing winds that shape life on the island and the warm glow that bathes its whitewashed streets, the name reflects a sense of freedom, tranquility, and authentic Cycladic beauty. It captures the spirit of Mykonos—a place where sea, light, and wind come together to create unforgettable moments. Our motto is inspired by the ancient Greek tragic poet Aeschylus: “Without wind, no journey begins.”

A trip can be stressful enough, so we would like to make your journey as smooth and comfortable as possible. That’s why a transfer van is always available to pick you up from Mykonos Airport or the port and take you to your accommodation. Upon arrival, you will find a selection of fresh fruit and wine as a welcome gesture.
